HTC desire

HTC desire is my dream phone few month back. I am using HTC wildfire because the previous is abit pricy for me. Let learn more about this gorgeous phone.

Display
The biggest selling point of the HTC Desire HD is that massive, stunning screen. At 4.3-inches and 480x800 WVGA resolution, it beats most other smartphones. The resolution in iPhone may be higher resolution at 640x960 pixels and Apple calls that as Retina Display. It displays more pixels than the eye can see, which we have to struggle to see pixels in WVGA resolution.

Size
HTC Desire is shines at 3,7 inches, having 480 X 800 WVGA resolution and Touch-sensitive screen with pinch-to-zoom capability

                 60mm                      11.9mm

Processor
The HTC Desire HD takes the well-known and respected Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8255 1GHz processor which handles everything lot better.

Sound and vision

The HTC Desire HD also features DLNA, allowing you to share your media with your DLNA-enabled entertainment system, whether that's your PC, NAS or speakers. Many phones are offering this now and it's pleasing to see HTC is embracing the technology.
The addition of Dolby pushes the Desire HD in front and with the ultimate mobile cinematic experience on that massive screen, so it's a double thumbs up.

Camera
The HTC Desire HD features an impressive 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and autofocus. The Apple iPhone 4 features a 5-megapixel camera with flash and tap to focus.

These are the main reasons I find HTC Desire very fascinating and eye catching. I hope I will get it soon.

iPad huge disappointment

There are several things that sucks about iPad. So, incase you're stiil wondering to get n iPad or not. Erm, i would suggest please think twice and hold up for iPad 2. Here are the points that make iPad a bad buy

1. NO multitasking
This means that iPad wont be able to run more than one app at a time. This also means that iPad wont be a great replacement for netbook or laptop. *It was only available until OS 4.0 comes. Pathetic.

2. NO camera
No front camera, no back camera. Seriously have no idea why Apple is skipping this. Maybe it will be another revolution for Steve in next iPad. Sacrificing the flash to obtain longer battery lifespan is understandable but not having any camera totally make no sense.

3. NO flash
If you're thinking of having a great time with this tablet since it doesn't burn your laps that easily, maybe this feature will hold you back. This is because  many web video sites and browser based games will not work on iPad. This is definitely a bad news for game lovers.

4. NO HDMI
It doesn't give HD video output. Too bad since the iPad screen itself is high definition.

5. Ugly touch keyboard
It seems like not everyone is in love with Apple keyboard after all. It has the ridiculous keyboard ever compare to other manufacturer. It is not so convenient to use with in this small tablet without a proper
stand/deck.

6. Ugly bezel
Yes, i know you're complaining about the huge thick bezel around the iPad. Many are having the same thought - waste of space. We understand that black area are suppose to give a space for the hand when holding the device but many also thought that it can be done in a nicer way. The huge black thingy seems to have unjustified massive proportion on the device.
even more obvious and hilarious here

Yes Steve, we got you. Thanks for such a powerful gadget

After all, I can conclude  iPad in just 2 words:

iPad is good for ?

It seems like I am a huge fans with devices started with "i". This time, I am going to have a review on ipad. First iPad to be exact as ipad 2 is still on its way.

Credit goes to:

1. Design
BEAU..TIFUL . Yes, like most of the Apple products, it's a beauty to behold. The matte aluminium on the back feels great unde the finger and nothing feels cheap. ipad weights only 1.5 pounds(670g) . Even though with such light weight, it is heavy enough for the wrist to get tired after holding it for 30 min as most of the users claimed. However, ipad with the display of 9.56 inch x 7.47 inch and 0.5 inch( 1.3cm) thick is definitely a sleek design product.

 2. Display
ipad comes with 9.7 inch LED backlit IPS display. With the resolution 1024×768 it has a seemingly low pixel density compare to high ends smartphones. Colors on the screen are vibrant and saturated, while blacks feel true and deep. The screen is capacitive, multitouch, and handle input excellently.

3. Battery life

The custom iPad A4 processor consumes very little power. Thanks to progress in low-power designs, the battery life of ipad is becoming seriously long. Most gadgets continue to drain power when they are in sleep mode. In the case of the iPad, the battery lost about 1% per night (7hr), which is quite low. This might be a positive effect of not having too much stuff running in the background.

4. Ipad doesn't run hot
Apple has the reputation of burning laps. Users claimed that ipad doesn't expel heat as expected after using for several hours. It's nice to know that iPad doesn't melt any finger.

However, to call iPad the best in class would be an overstatement. It's not exactly notable for design flourishes. It's good looking in general but not terribly exciting or something to die for. I will tell you why in the following post .

Why you should not get an iPhone 4

And here goes the ugly part about this phone.

1. Design
With all the breakthrough technology, iPhone 4 is using aluminosilicate glass which claimed to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic. However, it doesn't survive more than 5 drops at about 1 foot height. Don't believe? Check this out. It was designed to be more scratch resistant but drop test has proved that iPhone 4 was so brittle and prone to shatter. iPhone 4 is undeniably a fragile beauty i would say.

2. Antenna
What else? No 2 will definitely goes for antenna issue. Faulty antenna problem was an ugly known fact due to the antenna was built at the metal band surrounding the sides of the phone. Signal drop problem was constantly reported when users hold the phone in a normal way. With all the controversy, Steve the CEO of Apple conclude in a statement saying that :

"If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available case"

So, hold it at the right way as Steve said to avoid the phone signal goes from low to zero.

Or maybe you can try hold it like this? Guarantee good signal all the way.

Check, did you hold it right?

3. Poor Wifi connectivity
Apple is quite historically quite bad at engineering Wifi products that work. This is ironic as the iPhone 4 has a stainless band around the edge which Apple claimed to improve the network connection. Steve himself got a big boo for having a fail demo on iPhone 4.

4. Alarm problem
If you're late for work, you must be a iPhone 4 user!! No joke, but iPhone 4 has caused a significant of users to be late on appointments, work and etc. I found this website who is guiding user to fix iPhone 4 problem. What a shame for Apple.

5. Proximity sensor problem
There were numerous complain of proximity sensor glitch that would result in the hanging up of calls or mysterious button press that would mute or invite another person to the call. Nothing throw you off when you are talking with the phone and out of the sudden the speakerphone comes on.

These are the top 5 reasons that makes many geeks a no-go for iPhone 4. There are still numerous issues about this phone like the seam problem on the device which has to go back for its design. On top of that, iPhone 4 is still comes with 3G connection. This is not a fourth generation smart phone yet.

In a nut shell, iPhone 4 is a smart phone that you either love it or hate it . In other words , it also means that take it or leave it !

Let watch something that will drive iPhone 4 lovers go banana and the haters laughing all the way...

Why you should get an IPhone 4

I believe that nothing is more familiar than iPhone 4 for everyone these day. It was promised to be available in black and white but white iphone has yet to be out on the shelf as we speak. Erm, no surprise.. there is always a thing from Apple.

iPhone 4 (white & black)

There are certain features that I love in this phone:

1. Resolution
Thanks to the Retina display, everything appear on this phone looks amazing.  960 by 640 resolution in 3.5 inch screen with 326 pixels per inch give a big WOW to the phone. iPhone 4 Retina display uses technology IPS(In plane switching) to achieve wider viewing angle and compare to typical LCDs. This simply means that you can hold iphone 4 in any way to get a perfect picture. Retina display include LED backlighting and an ambient light sensor that adjust the brightness of the screen.

Comparison on the screen resolution

2. Facetime
wow, Apple finally brings video calling to the world. (if only you see past the sarcasm). Video call is as easy as just a tap on FaceTime button. iPhone 4 comes with 2 built in camera. One on th front and the other on the back. Front camera has been specially tuned for FaceTime and the back camera is to share some moments just a tap on switches without the trouble of turning the phone around.

3. Multitasking
Finally, we can listen to music while running other application at the same time. Finally, we can run other task in the middle of conversation. Finally, we can keep GPS app running when there is call coming in. Finally, we can continue switch to other app while waiting for the picture uploaded. Finally, we can receive push and local notification. How nice right? All thanks to Apple .

Please forgive me as I can only think of 3 good points about iPhone 4.

Macbook air pro

With the new Macbook Air, Apple promises to deliver a portable computer that is lighter than the average netbook, comparable in size but with much more muscle, at a price which starts at $999.  Among the features put forward by Apple: Flash storage, Multi-Touch trackpad, Long battery (5-7hrs, according to Apple) and a high display pixel density.

Weight:

At two pounds (0.9kg), this design puts to shame most competing computers that weigh an average of 3.3 pounds/1.49kg. That’s a significant weight advantage, and it feels very much like having an iPad (1.5 pounds) in the bag. Low weight is definitely one of the big advantages of this 11.6″ MacBook Air.

Build quality:

The build quality of the new MacBook Air is excellent. It’s made of aluminum and does not shear or bend. The chassis feels really solid all around with the weakest points definitely on either side (screen and underbelly). I hope that Speck or another company will build a thin hard case.

for those who want to cut some cost

Ports:

There are two USB ports, one DisplayPort, the power plug, and the standard 3.5mm jack audio out (plus what seems like to be a microphone on the side). Overall, this is an improvement over the previous design. Having two USB ports is so much more practical and with this design, I can leave my mouse USB connector on at all times.

Display:

With a resolution of 1366×768 (11.6″) and 1440×900 (13.3″), the MacBook Air displays are actually better than the MacBook Pro line up. That might tell us how Apple will update the MacBook Pro next. Both resolutions provide a good pixel density, although many PCs that sell for much less do offer as many pixels per square-inch. It is nice, has a good view angle and an image quality that surpasses most competing computers.

Compare Macbook air and Macbook Pro peer to peer:

Samsung galaxy tab

The good:

1. Size

You will find the 7'' Galaxy tab so handy while it can easily be hold with one hand. With the 1024×600 resolution screen is perfect for book reading and  for browsing as well. In this case, you will find that iPad is a bit bulky and you always need both hands to operate it.

2. Keyboard

I am deeply in love with Swype, which makes entering text on the fly easy.  I also find that two thumb typing is great on the tab, but the iPad needs to be set down to type quickly. Credit for Galaxy tab.

The Bad:

1. Battery

Obviously, the battery doesnt last as long as iPad.

2. Phone? Not a phone?

Let be honest. Who will actually use this 7" tablet as phone? I bet that those who are holding this device can afford better. On top of that, who will buy this and solely use it as a phone? In short, I think that it's unpractical and useless by having this feature.

3.  Lack of apps and sites

I wasn’t expecting EVERY app to have a tablet counterpart.  However, I was kinda hoping for a few developers to step up and produce a tablet version. With limited apps to run in Galaxy tab, it's quite understandable if iPad is still the popular choice after all.

Galaxy is half of the size of iPad

Samsung I9000 Galaxy S

Samsung Galaxy S has been always the rival to iPhone since i was released. The Samsung Galaxy S is an Android smartphone that was announced by Samsung in March 2010. It certainly has it own specification that everyone would like to have in their phone. Here goes the list:

1. Screen
The Samsung Galaxy S uses a 4.0-inch (100 mm) Super AMOLED touch screen of WVGA resolution. The screen is covered by Gorilla Glass, a special crack and scratch resistant material.

2. Processor
The slim fit case has a room for 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird CPU and  512 MB of RAM. .At 1 GHz the processor speed may seem similar to other phones sporting a Snapdragon but the Intrinsity-Hummingbird (S5PC110) is capable of processing 3 times more triangles per second than these other chipsets.

3.   User Interface
The customizations start on the homescreen where you have up to seven panes to populate with widgets. The task switcher has been untouched by the TouchWiz changes, but the notification area has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and sound toggles on top. These are quite handy when you need to turn any of these features on or off – no more digging in the Settings.

4. Excellent phonebook

Samsung I9000 Galaxy S has a phonebook with massive functionality and practically unlimited capacity.
The handset displays the phone memory, SIM-stored and all Google contacts in the phonebook.

5. Swype predictive text input

This is one of the feature that I like the most. It literally means that you just have to sweep the words at the keypad. The high precision means that even fast sweeps will be recognized correctly, so you can enter text very quickly and keep the error rate reasonably low. It has broke the New Guinness record by texting words in the fastest way.

Here is a video to get an idea about swype feature.

6. Other features include

  • Quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G support
  • 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support
  • 5 MP autofocus camera with face, smile and blink detection
  • 720p HD video recording at 30fps
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g and n support
  • GPS with A-GPS connectivity; Digital compass
  • 8/16GB internal storage, microSD slot
  • Accelerometer and proximity sensor
  • microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v3.0
  • FM radio with RDS
  • 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery
  • Great audio quality
  • Slim waistline at only 9.9mm thickness
  • Document editor
  • File manager comes preinstalled
  • Secondary video-call camera
  • Excellent choice of preinstalled applications
There is no perfect phone and it's the case for Samsung Galaxy S too. The Galaxy S is all made of plastic and this makes the gadget looks cheap sometimes.

Samsung N150 netbook

Laptop or netbook is a necessary item for everyone nowadays. I am using this Samsung N150 netbook at the moment for almost 6 months now. There are several reasons that makes me fall in love with.

Design

The N150 Plus (N150-11) makes a good first impression with its glossy lid. It’s an attractive deep red and black with a subtle dot pattern, though it picks up fingerprints in a hurry. The N150 is also available in multiple colors for less cash, including Bermuda Blue, Gloss Black, Flamingo Pink, Matte Blue, and white. In case you are curious, I am  personally using Gloss Black.

Heat

After playing a video at full screen for 15 minutes, temperatures of 81 degrees Fahrenheit was recorded on the touchpad, 87 degrees at the center of the keyboard, and just 84 degrees on the underside in the middle, all of which are acceptable. However, the back left area by the vent reached up to 99 degrees, which caused a little discomfort when the N150 Plus was in our lap.

Display and Audio
The N150 Plus’ 10.1-inch, 1024 x 600-pixel LED-backlit matte display offered bright colors and deep blacks despite the lack of a glossy finish. We used the netbook in the sun and didn’t notice any glare. We’re also glad that there were no distracting reflections when watching dark scenes in movies or TV shows. Unfortunately, viewing angles weren’t very wide.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The 2.5 x 1.4-inch touchpad is around the same size as other N series netbooks, but it feels cramped. That’s because the default settings for the scrolling areas on the pad take up more area than necessary, and users constantly found themselves accidentally scrolling or jumping to different places in browser or word processor windows. Nevertheless, I am so use to this type of keyboard and it's no longer a problem for me.
